Heading west - head winds, time for a detour (planned) Scotts Beach - near Fowlers Bay for a few days, then our 4th visit to Geues - Far West Coast - Mullaway fishing / or what ever will take the hook - alas _______!!
With permit in hand we head into the coast 39k's,
Geues camp site, getting some exercise on the way.
Tree pruning - only about 20 trees of
varying size required pruning this trip
1222hrs at Coombra Gate – 2hrs 10 Minutes driving time 3hrs 45min. = 1.5hrs pruning!!
Still the one tight corner when we depart.
Geues sand hill – 1st gear, then dropped into low range with front diff’s – no problem, pulled up the sand hill like a tractor and no wheel spin.

Guys in Camp # 3, from Port Augusta – no fish, gave us some bait as departing next day. Also in their bait bag –
2 flathead 42 & 54cm – dinner on Tuesday!!
No time to set up camp - there's fish out there!!
Fish the evening gale – gusting 40k’s wind chill low teen’s – 1 Salmon 8.5#, one undersize mullaway,
caught just after Sue headed back to camp!
The camp and coast to our selves for at least a day!
Local guy!
Yep! time for a hair cut!
Thanks, Gary & Sue - Smokey Bay Oysters = MAGIC!
Magic evening several more undersize Mullaway
Our friendly Port Jackson
Telstra hill - office view
Chook, Teresa & Ashley arrived 1540hrs. Set up camp.
Off fishing after a scrumptious tea of fresh salmon and gummy shark.
Full camp, Neil & Teresa in the camper trailer, Ashley in his Patrol and Linden Masters our cousin in his ute camper.
We dominate the center.
Early fishing – no fish at the Geues hole.
UHF call - Chook & Teresa landing fish, went back a got Ashley’s 4 x 4 ATV. (Ashley had a sleep in) Down to Goombra, Chook landed a 40# mullaway, Teresa – salmon and gummy shark.
Took over an hour to clean and fillet the fish, then another hour to bag and vac. Seal.
Official weigh in!!
Linden with his prize - 3, he returned to the
briny and Mum
Sue prize - wind chill, 7 degree's
The coffee's went down well - time to go fishing.
I know it's early but_______!!
The wind has finally let up, light nor easter, ideal fishing conditions - how ever no one told the fish!
Dolphins cruise the reef most days
Guess I left the bait in to long, the crabs had a feed at least
Tuckers ready for action, so are we!
Storms rolling around us all day - no rain!
Off for a quick tour - check out other fishing gutters
All day breakfast!
0510hrs – storm cell hit, the annexe poles started to collapse. Wind speed 97.9kph only lasted 5 minutes. Our gear on the beach down and all over the beach, only lost my worn out Barrow Island hat.
We had all the Maximums over the last two days. Max Temp - 42.9, Wind Chill - 38, Barametric Pressure - 1023.5, and the wind gust 97.9kph. That's far west coast fishing conditions.
Camels - 27 in total, roaming the sand hills
Went back down the track to remodel the land scape to ensure we did not roll the van getting out. Cut some vegetation to widen the corner.
Ashley had a good day, a legal size MULLAWAY!
The ATV's sure make it easier to get around
and fish the gutters. Chook and Teresa have both
had some good runs, but failed equipment.
Back into the briny - will be bigger next time around!!
it's hungry work this fishing!
Took Ashley’s ATV down to the lagoon, Linden and Sue side saddle. Sue and I did a sand hill loop at 30kph,
Sue ‘FRIGHTENING but EXCITING”
It's desolate out here!
Ashley and _____
Sue in action with a game of Ladder Golf -
Ashley and Sue won. Check out their form!
Our camp site is generally out of the wind,
except any thing from the North to nor westerly
Beach combing and cruising
Ashley's loaded and ready
Chook and Teresa with Tucker are on their way home
Only got a light drizzle out of this lot,
magic evening - still no fish
That's it for another YEAR for us.
